10.09.2014 – Diamonds and Pearls

There is one last recording day ahead of us: 9.10.2014 and we keep our fingers crossed that that day will set the finish line.
In the meantime there’s a lot to think about, decide, do and prepare...and I discovered a secret place, a place full of magic in the middle of nowhere – in a country with a sweet and seductive language – a place where you can get lost in order to find yourself  : ).
As it is a secret place and I can not tell you where it is, but I can tell you that if you need this place, it will find you...After a journey of 10h I finally arrived and chose my room among thousands of different rooms...at first I was scared by this place by its incredible size and it's ancient soul. But as soon as I unpacked, I got caught in its magic. It is a place full of artistry in all its different kinds: dance, literature and music shake each others hands and I encountered a wonderful dancer/choreographer by the name of one of Coltrane’s most famous songs : ).  There has been this idea about a video in my head for quite some time and when I sat down with Naima it started to unravel...the song we chose is called Diamonds & Pearls and it is one of the 16 songs from our upcoming Album (February 2015!!!!!!!). The lyrics were written by Heinrich Heine and set to music by mathias rüegg. It became quite clear what we wanted to do and how. We had so much fun while concentrating on our choreography that it might seem to you as if we were just playing around and I can assure you we were : ) but on a very serious level trying to get where we felt was the right way to go. I will let you have a peek in our rehearsing room...do you know Jerry Lewis’ Pantomime or Chaplins Version of the Hungarian Dance Nr.5 by Brahms? They are visualizing the music in a way that makes you see what you hear...it is incredible!!!!
